To celebrate the birth of our great nation, this year a group of friends and myself made the trip down to Destin, FL for some good ole fashion sun, surf and sand. In order to commemorate the epic weekend we decided to do have some custom Doozy Straps printed, highlighting two of the things that I love the most… America and Auburn University!

We didn’t really have a set design in mind, but knew we wanted to use a phrase I had heard back in my college days… “You can’t spell USA without AU”. We passed our thoughts on to the Beverage Outfitters and what they came up with was more than I could have even imagined. Incorporating the American flag in the USA block letters really added to what we were trying to get across. It couldn’t have been easier; Beverage Outfitters came up with a design and all I had to do was sign off on it.

When we arrived at the Condo in Destin we were greeted with a box of fresh custom Doozy Straps made exactly to my specification. The Doozy was a surprise for all my friends and when they saw them, they’re jaws dropped. Everyone quickly put a cold American flag edition Budweiser in their Doozy, unpacked their stuff, and got ready for the beach

The Doozys ended up being a huge hit with the group! They truly are the perfect companion for the beach and we got a ton of use out of them. Aside for being the best conversation starter, the Doozy quickly made us the most popular group on the beach. Everyone wanted to know where we got them. A lot of free beers were accumulated that weekend because everyone wanted to see how they worked. Overall, our Doozy experience couldn’t have been better.

Friends, Countrymen, fellow beverage enthusiasts… our nations birthday is approaching us as summer time in America is in full swing. All across these great states we as a people flex our freedom muscles and partake in the activities that define a Nation: Water sports, Barbeque’s, Fishing, Road trips, Golf, Pool lounging, and who could forget – Baseball, the national pastime itself. It’s no coincidence or mistake that we get to enjoy these activities in the greatest land on this earth; it has been a long and arduous road, paved with the blood, sweat and dedication of the American people themselves. So first and foremost lets raise our glasses to those defending our nation both past and present! Now, raise your glass to yourself – that’s right… If you are a law abiding, tax paying citizen of this nation, you are (in your own way) contributing to the greatness of what we know as the US of A – Be Proud!

Here in the states if you sport a Doozy in public, especially in the likes of Pubs, Carnival Celebrations, and street markets… you are guaranteed to get looks and questions about “that thing around your neck?”. Europe… not really a big attention getter. Now London on the other hand was much more into the Doozy than Amsterdam and Frankfurt, maybe it is the closer similarities to our cultures; or that the great nation of America - through rebellion and acts of pure lionheartedness - was spawned from the UK.

At any rate, after much thinking and pondering on the plane I’ve chalked it up to a great experience and nothing more. I think at the end of the day the way of life in Europe is just not screaming for the Doozy Srap… all drinks are poured into a glass, the beer is never even served to you cold – so there really is no need to keep it cold, and people would rather sit down and take their time with their drinks. Let’s just face it people, all day beach excursions, monster tailgating parties that could feed all of Romania, 1,000 person beer pong tournaments, and drinking while hunting, fishing, or shooting skeet; are things that we share with no nation.
